  • 18h40: Q&A

Intro presentation:

Arguably, the key advantage of the blockchain technology is the ability to simplify transaction processes while ensuring high levels of security. It is therefore not surprising that the potential for its application in real estate transactions has received significant attention in recent years. However, beyond improving the efficiency and security, blockchain also has implications for the functioning of real estate markets. By drastically accelerating the sales process and reducing transaction costs, it could affect the very nature of the pricing mechanism and create new challenges in managing buildings. Moreover, the new technology has potentially far-reaching consequences for both the urban environments and broader social/societal structures and may impose the need for new governance arrangements. This presentation develops such newly arising questions.
